From time to time families of athletes experience financial strains and pressures that may impact an athlete’s ability to participate in important sport development events and activities. The Athlete Hardship Bursary is a confidential bursary award provided to athletes, whose families have a demonstrated financial need, and are unable to cover the costs of sport development activities outside of the everyday training. Examples of activities that this bursary may support include: attendance to National Championships, clinics, training camps, etc.
A maximum of $1000.00 per athlete per year may be allocated. Up to $4000.00 per season may be available, pending available funding.

The Charlotte Tutte Memorial Bursary is an annual monetary award of $200 per season, to support first year junior athletes who are demonstrating continued growth in their Synchronized swimming career. This bursary is subject to available funds.
Charlotte Tutte was a coach who loved the sport of synchronized swimming and enjoyed working with developing young athletes. This is a memorial bursary created in her memory. Charlotte Tutte past away from Breast Cancer in her early 40th.

The purpose of the Professional Development Coaching Bursary is to assist coaches who are interested in upgrading their technical expertise and/or experience. This Bursary may be utilized to attend an in-province, out-of-province or out-of-country coaching seminar or conference, attend major or domestic competition, other professional development opportunities or consult with a recognized sport expert. Subject to funding availability,
up to six – $500 Professional Development Bursaries will be offered annually.

The Donalda Smith Excellence Bursary Award is an annual monetary award of $300 per season, which was established in Donalda’s memory. Donalda was very much a part of Synchro Canada’s grassroots. She began in the mid 50’s in Vancouver as a fundraiser for her daughter’s member club and became a Canadian judge and eventually served as an International technical chairperson and assisted in updating the FINA manual. Donalda Smith was the President of Synchro BC in 1980. The purpose of this award is to recognize excellence on the part of an athlete and her coach.

The purpose of the National Team Athlete Bursary is to financially assist High Performance athletes
The Bursary will offer financial assistance and support athletes to participate in out-of-province camps, training, conferences and major or domestic competitions. Pending funding availability, up to four (4)- $1000 bursaries will be offered annually. National team tryout fees will also be paid for all athletes attending team selections. Additional athlete bursaries may also be considered based on available funding and subject to the discretion of the Board of Directors.
