The “Towards Excellence Program” is the high performance program of Synchro BC through the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch and serves those identified athletes (12 and older) who aspire to represent British Columbia at national competitions, and possibly be selected to compete for Canada. The “Towards Excellence Program” is referred to as the “national stream” of programming activity in Synchro BC and includes the “Train to Compete” stage of the Synchro Canada Sport for Life and Athlete Development Models. Synchro BC has been delivering a high performance program since 1992.
The athletes work within their “national stream clubs” and are brought together for training camps and identification camps delivered by Synchro BC throughout the year.
The program goal is to identify talented athletes and provide them with the support, resources and opportunities that they need to progress through the high performance system.
The “Towards Excellence Program” has demonstrated impressive results since its development with multiple athletes placed on Synchro Canada’s National Teams at the 13 – 15 year age group, Junior, Senior B and Senior A team levels.
Synchro BC also has coaches from BC working with National Teams, and BC-based Officials being named to National Championships and International events. This program provides the avenue to bring that level of experience back to the province is a significant benefit for all involved in the sport as these leaders share their experiences and learnings.
